CMTS and the NSF GRANTED Initiative
CMTS hosts a National Science Foundation GRANTED Initiative project focused on demonstrating that the CMTS model can be successfully adopted at non-R1 institutions.
Through this initiative, CMTS works with partner institutions to apply a human-capital-driven approach to research technology management that increases researcher productivity while reducing the cost and complexity of maintaining secure, compliant research environments. Rather than building parallel infrastructure, institutions leverage shared expertise, standardized service blocks, and guided adoption tailored to their local context.
The GRANTED project supports pilot implementations, cross-institutional collaboration, and the development of a practical blueprint for replication. Together, these efforts show how institutions with limited research infrastructure can sustainably support research growth without increasing long-term operational costs.
